Celebrating the TCK Journey

Third Culture Kids travel the world and have tales to tell. Haidee Dehner has written a book with her daughter Maya called Life on the Outside. This book and the TCK Activity Kit have been used with students in international schools to generate crucial discussions about the global nomad experience. Find out more about how educators can help students write about their adventures and share them with the latest technology.

Misson Statement
“As a teacher I had an epiphany when I connected the hero’s journey that Joseph Campbell wrote about at the root of many of the stories that global nomads tell. After encouraging students to write down their experiences and publishing my own book, I now know that it is crucial for all of you to document those stories. After all, we are all on the same journey of self-discovery.

I know international students who don’t realize they are members of an exclusive club and who can benefit from the work of people like  David Pollock, Ruth Van Reken, Barbara, Schaetti and Ruth Hill Useem. Our job as parents and educators is to make this generation of TCKs aware that there are others like them and some of us think they are nothing less than heroes. Let’s share the wisdom and bring it home. ”
